The exhibitions industry in Egypt is rapidly expanding making Egypt’s trade very dynamic. The two national venues, Cairo International Fair Ground and Cairo International Convention Center, operated by the Egyptian government, facilitate all of the exhibitions organized in Cairo, Egypt’s rapidly changing capital.
The industry has seen a growth of 17% annual growth within the last 5 years. This tremendous growth has inspired the government to renew, enlarge & modernize the two exhibition venues, preparing Egypt for the coming years of economic growth and prosperity. A large contributor to the industry growth is ACG-ITF, the leading trade fair organizer in Egypt and the MENA region, capturing over 47% of Egypt’s market share.
Economic development has steered a trend of optimizing the exhibition industry which then promotes trade, tourism & consumer spending. Cairo is seeing the bulk of the Exhibitions industry in Egypt. Cairo is where most business operations root, run & advance their business. Alexandria has seen a small percentage of this industry in recent years. The Cairo International Fair Grounds authority has invested €400 Million in the building of what will be the “Cairo Expo City” which will provide 120,000m2 of exhibiting space and modernized facilities and services.
Challenges in the past included accommodating the many exhibitors and visitors in the crowded Cairo hotels. ACG-ITF’s output of ‘Total Sales of Space’ is growing at a rate of 31% reaching 42,000m2 in 2007. Many new hotels and complexes have been built in recent years making Cairo’s capacity vast & comfortable.
